Hondaは、走りと燃費を高次元で両立させる新世代パワートレイン技術群「EARTH DREAMS TECHNOLOGY（アース・ドリームス・テクノロジー）」の一つとして、小型車および中型車に最適な直噴ガソリンターボエンジン「VTEC TURBO」を新開発しました。

  このエンジンは、Honda独自の「VTEC」をはじめとした可変動弁機構を適用し、高流動燃焼を用いた直噴ターボ過給による出力向上でエンジン排気量をダウンサイジングし、さらに徹底的なフリクション低減により、クラストップレベルの出力性能と環境性能を両立しています。
  排気量は2.0L、1.5L、1.0Lの3クラスのバリエーションを設定し、既存のハイブリッド技術やディーゼルエンジンと同様に、今後グローバルで発売されるモデルの特性や地域ニーズに合わせて順次適用していきます。
